WHY should i SPAY OR neuter my cat?
To Improve Your Cat’s Health
Neutering male cats reduces the risk of prostate issues and eliminates the possibility of testicular cancers. Intact males are at higher risk of fights with other males which often ends in wounds that need medical care. Roaming also increases the risk of being hit by a car, being caught by predators, and coming in contact with diseases such as feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. Spaying female cats, especially before their first heat cycle, prevents uterine, ovarian, and mammary cancers. In addition, life threatening uterine infections are prevented. Spayed and neutered pets tend to live longer, healthier lives. To Improve Your Cat’s Behavior Cats are less likely to roam, bite, or mark their territory through spraying when spayed or neutered. Unaltered pets will often become vocal or stressed when in heat. Many owners complain that their intact cat will keep them up all night due to yowling. Fixing your pet will help reduce these stresses and keep you and your pet happy. |
To Prevent Pet Overpopulation
Cats are able to reproduce at the young age of 4 months old and often have litters of 5+ kittens. This has led to a huge overpopulation crisis worldwide. Millions of cats are euthanized or left to fend for themselves due to lack of space in animal shelters. Spaying or neutering your pet will help combat this exponential population growth and ensure more cats are in loving homes instead of on the streets. To Avoid Unexpected Expenses The cost of a spay or neuter is much less than the cost of treating cancers of the reproductive system. Sterilization surgery is also less expensive than raising a litter of kittens or treating wounds caused by cats fighting for mates. Avoid unexpected expenses by spaying or neutering your pet prior to reproductive maturity. |
What does surgery cost? Our neuter package is $90 and spay package is $115. This package includes sterilization, a pain injection, and a tattoo on the abdomen that indicates surgery has already been performed. Kittens must be at least 8 weeks old and weight at least 2 lbs to qualify for services. We recommend any cat over the age of five have blood work performed prior to anesthesia to further evaluate organ function. If elected, this blood work would need to be performed at another veterinary clinic prior to scheduling your appointment with SNIP Central.

How do I schedule surgery for my cat?
Scroll down and use the online scheduler to register your cat for surgery. Scheduling surgery before your cat is six months of age will lower the risk of your pet developing behavioral and health problems. Kittens as young as eight weeks old and at least 2 lbs can be spayed or neutered.
Vaccination, viral testing, e-collars, microchips, dewormer, flea treatment, and nail trims are available at an additional cost at the time of surgery. We recommend that all cats be vaccinated against FVRCP and Rabies to protect them from infections in the future. FeLV vaccination is recommended for all outdoor cats as the feline leukemia virus can readily be spread through saliva of other cats. |
