Spay and Neuter Services for Unowned Cats
SNIP Central offers TNR appointments for feral cats in Central Oregon. TNR stands for Trap-Neuter-Return. Caregivers that utilize this program will catch feral cats using humane traps. They then take the cat(s) to a spay/neuter appointment and return them to their original location after recovery. Adoptable cats and kittens are placed in homes whenever possible.
The feral cat surgery package is $85 and includes spay/neuter, pain medication injection, rabies vaccine, and an ear tip to indicate sterilization. The left ear is cut at the tip so caregivers can differentiate between a sterilized and intact cat at a distance. This package is only available to unsocialized outdoor cats that do not have a true owner. Feral cats typically avoid human contact and will require a trap to be brought in for surgery. All feral cats must arrive in humane traps. Any cat arriving in a carrier will be charged the pet cat rate.
Be sure to have an appointment before trapping cats.
